Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon Wrap Up

The Make Me Read It Read-a-thon ran from the 9th to the 16th of July. I had a poll running in June for people to decide what I would read. From that poll I selected the 4 most voted books. I am happy to say I completed all of the books I had on my TBR. I did read more during the week but that was for another read-a-thon. Since this read-a-thon focused on the books in my original poll I will only be discussing those books.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

This was the most voted on book for this read-a-thon so I decided I should get to it first. I absolutely loved this book, it is so quirky and a breath of fresh air. Thank you to those who voted on it. I will definitely try more from this author in the future.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

This was the next book from the poll that I selected to read. I enjoyed this, not a much as Fangirl. I liked the magical elements and the fact high fantasy aspects.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

There is so much hype about this book I am not kidding. I liked that this is not like anything I had read before and the link to Grecian Mythology with the Golds.

Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

I have seen the movie that was based on this book. I really enjoyed being able to read about these wonderful characters, I could delve into them more in the book.

I found this read-a-thon to be very individualised and could not find any sprints running – I could not have been looking hard enough. I liked the preliminary formulation of getting your TBR and it was definitely something I had not done before. Overall, while I would have liked more interaction, I did enjoy myself.

Keep Calm and Read On,

Kati
