Popular DJ Dexx finds himself positively smitten by the precociously pristine Poppy Paris. Too bad she’s already taken by an older boy, Declan Davies, a beautiful model with a thriving career, and a perfect family. By a dreamful stroke of chance, Dexx finds himself invited to spend Christmas at the Davies home by a gorgeous girl, granting him the opportunity to pursue the precious Poppy. But in his quest to win her over, he unlocks a world of imperfection and insecurity, where people are picked on for their disabilities, speech, appearance, and eccentricities. For Poppy and her friends, love trumps labels, and everyone deserves a brave friend to stand by their side. What gifts will Dexx discover this Christmas? Will he ultimately find true love, or will he discover something even greater?
While this story is based around the Christmas holiday and was a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit, the main drive of the story was the individual characters and the examination of these characters both from the point of view of each of characters about themselves and the other characters.
The diversity of the characters lent for a more holistic representation of different individuals in the holiday season. The examination of family dynamics in the holiday season and the interactions between different family members. The romance in the book did not over-power the main plot and the conflict between the characters was resolved beautifully.
Overall, this is a beautiful story based in the holiday season which was an examination of different characters and their development through the narrative. If you are looking for a lovely examination of a varied cast of characters over the holiday season, I recommend this book.
