BLURB:

It’s early 1945 and a group of people trek across Germany, bound together by their desperation to reach the ship that can take them away from the war-ravaged land. Four young people, each haunted by their own dark secret, narrate their unforgettable stories.

REVIEW:

A look at war-torn Germany through the eyes of four young people with unique points-of-view. The chapters were short and succinct which allowed for a fast-paced novel with a full scope of characters without feeling invested in just one character. Each of the characters were unique and their stories were well developed. The writing itself was beautiful and unique. This was a thoroughly enjoyable historical novel with a focus on a tragic event I was not aware of.
