It’s time for another Tag Tuesday. This week I am going to be competing…
This Book Tag is created by Jay G on Youtube.
JANUARY – GARNET
Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest / evilest character you can think of
The Darkling in Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo is so evil because at the beginning he is perceived as a good buy helping the protagonists of the novel.
FEBRUARY – AMETHYST
Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities
Was there any doubt that I would pick this book for this prompt? In My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows, Jane is made Queen and has to marry G. This follows true events up to a point. Then history is left in the dust for some funny fiction.
MARCH – AQUAMARINE
Washed Out – Name a “wishy-washy” character, a character who is not strong or a follower
Alejandro is the king and Elisa’s husband in The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson. As such he has large boots to fill. As the novel continues it is obvious he is not up for the job and that looks are not everything.
APRIL – DIAMOND
A Diamond in the Rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well known
Finding Paradise by V.P. Ortiz is a novel I have recently finished and absolutely loved. The romance and family values were particularly heartwarming. This book only has 54 ratings on Goodreads and I really want to get word out about this book.
MAY – EMERALD
Said to Balance Energy – Name two characters who balance each other well
In The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Adhieh Sharazad and her lady’s maid, Despina are two characters that balance each other so well.
JUNE – PEARL
Associated with Loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end
Mace is the right hand of Kelsea in The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. He is loyal to Kelsea to the end.
JULY – RUBY
Blood Red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry
What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler was a really good book, but the rape culture in this book made my blood boil. Like it was meant to.
AUGUST – PERIDOT
Pale Green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character
While I really enjoyed Etta in Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, Nicolas’ character shone brighter for me.
SEPTEMBER – SAPPHIRE
Blue like the ocean, which is calming – Name a book that had a calming affect on you
Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram is a cute contemporary retelling of Cinderella. I really enjoyed reading this and it just took me away from the outside world.
OCTOBER – OPAL
Iridescent – Name an iridescent book
This is solely about the cover of this book. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray really has an iridescent cover.
NOVEMBER – TOPAZ
Associated with Resilience – Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity
I feel like this applies to any female heroine of a fantasy novel. However, Feyre from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas overcomes a lot of adversity to be the Lady of the Night Court and there is still more adversity to come.
DECEMBER – BLUE ZIRCON
Associated with Friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be a part of
I really need to re-read this series soon. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares has the best friendship ever (in my opinion) and I would love to be a part of it.
I hope you enjoyed this tag as much as I did. If you wish to complete this tag than consider yourself tagged.
Keep Calm and Read On,
