BOOK TRAVELING THURSDAYS

book-traveling-thursday2

The concept of this is that every Thursday there is a theme and the bloggers who participate in this group take that theme and pick a book that they associate with the theme. From this the bloggers find and post different covers of the book they have chosen.

If you wish to know more or join in please feel free to have a look at their Goodreads Page.

The theme for this week was:

A BOOK WITH YOUR FAVOURITE BOOKISH MOM

The book I have chosen for this is:

The Liar by Nora Roberts

The protagonist Shelby is a mother to a three-year-old daughter. When Shelby finds out her husband has lied to her and he is now missing, presumed dead, she sets out to make a new life for herself and her infant daughter. A better life.

FAVOURITE COVERS:

*The first cover is the Dutch edition. I love the look at the landscape and the image of the adult and child staring out at this stunning landscape. It rings true to the nature of the book.

*The second cover is the original U.S. edition. This cover has a web on it and when I see it I always think “Web of Lies”. It links me into the story.

*The third cover is the Swedish edition. The image of the woman hugging the child on the cover is one that I love. It promotes the strong connection of mother to child that is present in this book.

*The fourth cover is the French edition. This one is a complete 360 for me. The image of the wedding ring and the blood ties marriage into the crime element in this book.

LEAST FAVOURITE COVERS:

*The first cover is the Czech edition. This cover doesn’t tell me enough about the book at first glance. The girl looking in a shattered mirror may have some metaphoric connection but I am not a fan.

*The second cover is the Finnish edition. Firstly, Shelby is a woman and the person on the cover is a girl. Not to mention this cover does not tell me anything about the book.

*The third cover is the Latvian edition. Faces on covers here are not working for me. This is too typical a cover for me to enjoy.

As always, I am happy to talk to anyone about this weeks theme and the chosen covers. I will be back next Thursday for another Book Travelling Thursdays Post.

Keep Calm and Read On,

Kati
