All warfare is deception. Even in high school.
It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity. Since then, she’s punched Jack Hunter—
her nemesis-turned-maybe-something-more—in the face, survived a brutal attack by her mom’s abusive ex thanks to Jack’s heroics, and then promptly forgotten all about him.
The one bright spot for Isis is Sophia, the ephemeral girl who shares Isis’s hospital stay as well as a murky past with Jack. But as Isis’s memories return, she finds it harder and harder to resist what she felt for Jack, and Jack finds it impossible to stay away from the only girl who’s ever melted the ice around his heart.
As the dark secrets surrounding Sophia emerge, Isis realizes Jack isn’t who she thought he was. He’s dangerous. But when Isis starts receiving terrifying emails from an anonymous source, that danger might be the only thing protecting her from something far more threatening.
This is the second book in the Lovely Vicious series. See my review to Book 1 here.
Whoah… What did I just read? This series is taking me for a ride. It takes off from the events of book one and while there is a lot going on in this book the pacing is consistent and the overall plot of the book does not feel bogged down with content. The emotional rollercoaster I just experienced was something I am still reeling from.
The characters were just as amazing in this book as the first one. Isis slowly recovers from prior events and her usually snark slowly returns through the book with the return of the banter between Isis and Jack. Their love-hate relationship is amazing… the fluctuation between banter and genuine concern wrecks havoc on my emotions. Sophia is a character that was mentioned a lot in the first book. In this book Sophia makes an appearance and I cannot help but empathise with her character. This trio tugs on my heartstrings.
Overall, this series is blowing my mind. I am shipping the characters so much and am invested on the development of their story. This book was packed with content and story development and I am engrossed, needing to know how this series will wrap up.
Keep Calm and Read On,
