SUMMER READS

Now, I live in the Southern Hemisphere and while I am writing this post it is dark and rainy outside, we are moving into winter. My thoughts whilst writing this will be to reflect on the fun and brightness that summer brings, because I think contemporaries when I think summer.

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

unexpected everything UK

Really, any Morgan Matson book screams summer. This one is one of my favourites of Morgan Matson’s and with dog walking and summer fun, this definitely brings up the summer feels.

Lumberjanes Vol #1 by Noelle Stevenson

lumberjanes

This one is a female centric graphic novel based at Summer Camp. There is fun times and adventure. Positively summer-y.

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brashares

sisterhood

One from my childhood, this book is about friendship and togetherness while doing your own thing over the summer break.

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

moon and more

Sarah Dessen’s books mostly have that summer-y feel. This one is based at the beach over the summer vacation between high school and college.

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

SUMMER OF CHASING MERMAIDS

Based on an island and around the ocean this book is poetic and has strong character development. There are definite summer themes through the book and the sea setting makes this a summer read.

I LOVE Lumberjanes! Probably the best Summer Read haha mostly because it takes place at camp ^_^
I remember liking the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants when I was younger. Now that I think about it… I wonder how those pants got everywhere so quickly…
