Savannah Preston has a rare and precious gift: The ability to time travel through books. She, and others who share this unique ability, are faced with the insurmountable task of preserving history. They are known collectively as The Librarians.

While researching infamous Scottish outlaw Sir Malcolm Wash during the raging conflicts of the 14th Century, Savannah loses the only thing that tethers her to her own time. She must rely on her knowledge of both the present and the past to survive long enough to find a way home. Along the way, she enlists the help of a misfit named Eoin. With his guidance, she might just get home. It’s a risky and dangerous adventure, but then, so is Eoin…

REVIEW:

I loved diving back into a world where time travel is possible through books. This time the main character travels to Scotland… think Outlander, I know I did. A richly descriptive world with loveable characters and the concept of time travel that I adored.

This book has the possibility of being read as a standalone even though it is the second book in a series. Savannah is a fantastic character that travels to Medieval Scotland. Savannah is a new Librarian and this is a true coming of age story for her. The prose is lyrical and full of whimsy, I loved every minute of reading this book.

With my love of Outlander, the idea of time travelling to Medieval Scotland with a romance storyline was too much to pass up. And I am so glad I did’t. Wouldn’t it be amazing to time travel to Scotland? Well, through this novel I felt like I did, through Savannah’s story.

Sloan presents a dark and emotion packed world in medieval Scotland full with the lore of The Librarians. I have come to adore this series and look forward to more companion novels in this series.

REVIEW:

So much and so little has happened in this book that my mind is still reeling. I am so glad I experienced this book via audiobook. The concept of telepathy was conveyed so well though the audio format. The sense of urgency as the army was growing nearer was another element that was portrayed extremely well through this format.

This is a dystopian story based on a new planet where there is a germ called “noise” the boys and men on this planet have this germ that causes their thoughts to be broadcast to everyone else. The concept also extends to animals, some of whom have very little to say.

So many moral messages and concepts of humanity are portrayed within this one novel of a boy running away from his town with a girl in tow. I was hooked on every word because, even when there isn’t a lie or death situation I am needing to know the big secret of Prentisstown and why the men of Prentisstown are so hated by everyone else on this planet.

Talk about a cliffhanger. That ending had me almost ready tho throw the book (but I was listening to it). My mind is blown and I need to know that everything is going to be ok. I am so invested in Todd and Viola now, and I need to know my babies are going to get out of all of this.

Colton Allyster is relieved to be back home. After a year of rehabilitation, losing his career as a Marine along with his fiancé, he’s had to learn quickly what’s really important. Colton grew up wanting to serve his country. Managing his parents’ biker bar was never part of his plan, but after meeting Gia Caro, he’s beginning to think that’s exactly where he’s meant to be. Ever since Gia Caro arrived in the small, sleepy town of Ruby Falls, Tennessee, her life has spiraled out of control. Between losing her grandmother a little more each day to dementia, and her hot boss’s constant attention, her once quiet existence isn’t so quiet anymore. After weeks of sidestepping Colton, things get out of hand, and before Gia knows what’s happening, she’s spending her nights in his bed and her mornings in his kitchen. And as he cleans out drawers and makes room in his closet, she starts to wonder if she’s falling too fast.

REVIEW:

Aurora Rose Reynolds is one of my favourite romance writers. Her contemporary stories are full of complex characters with relationships that warm my heart. This book had that same formula with some minor differences to make for a sweet read.

Gia is a hardworking and loyal character who moves into town to help take care of her ailing grandmother. She runs into the son of her new boss who there is instant chemistry with. Colton is the caring sort who has had his own share of emotional trauma. When he and Gia combine the result is a beautiful relationship as they work through trust issues and family dynamics.

The title really does spell it out… these two characters fall fast. The relationship is a whirlwind as circumstances continue to throw them together. The chemistry is palpable and the attraction sizzles off of the page.

Not to mention the family dynamics. Colton’s family are amazing and I loved every minute of reading about them. On the other side there is Gia’s family where there were moments that simply broke my heart. An examination of the effects of dementia on family was something I really appreciated and added a sense of reality to the novel.

The pure, sweet and enduring love in this book warms the cockles of my heart. Another page turner of a novel that I simply devoured within one sitting. I love reading any romance novel by Aurora Rose Reynolds and will continue to do so for a long time to come.

REVIEW:

A time travel romance novel that I simply could not get enough of. The plot was fun and concise with a solid ending that tied up loose ends. The language barrier between the two time periods was an interesting element of the storyline. There was modern day American discourse in a 1800’s England setting. This element of the story really intrigued me.

Emme is a modern woman with modern qualities who is thrown into a world where she travels through time to preserve important moments in history with no-one there to support her or offer her guidance. She becomes romantically interested in someone she is meant to be observing and things go awry.

There is such a lush history of the library and the books that sends the librarians back in time. I am very intrigued to read more about the library and other members of the Bailey family.

Overall, an intriguing book with a new take on time travel. I have found a new author that I am going to need to look up. There is a romance that ended very sweetly and I am hoping to see these characters in future novels in this series.

BLURB:

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

REVIEW:

A dystopian world where social groups are separated by the colour of blood. A revolution against people with superhuman powers and violence that will make you cringe. This book had one of the biggest plot twists I have ever experienced. I was hung on every word form the poor decimated world of the Reds to the glamour of the Silvers and the gladiator-like pits where powers are pitted against each other.

This world is vicious, where you cannot trust anyone and the only way to survive is to useful and the most powerful. Mare is the lightning girl and a Red. The book really picks up when Mare is thrown into the world of the Silvers when she discovers she has power over electricity.

The characters really make this book. There is no-one by the end who does not have blood on their hands and there is so many morally grey characters I do not know where to begin. There is the concept of a love triangle between two princes and Mare. The princes present as two sides of a coin and it is interesting to see how perspective changes people and what they will believe in and fight for.

I was really enjoying the book and the plot twist threw me for a tailspin. I think I literally yelled out loud. I was not anticipating the sharp turn this story made and I am anticipating what will happen in the future books in this series and the future of the revolution. Rise… as red as the dawn!
